Impressum, privacy, and the limits of what this site claims.
Search Provider Bench is a personal, non-commercial open-source project. Nothing is sold here, no account is created, and no advertising is served. This page states who runs it, what happens to the little data a visit produces, and what the published numbers do and do not mean.
Impressum and disclosure
Disclosure pursuant to § 25 of the Austrian Media Act (Mediengesetz) and information pursuant to § 5 of the Austrian E-Commerce Act (ECG).

- Nature of the site
- Private, non-commercial publication of an open-source benchmark of web-search APIs. No goods or services are offered, and no advertising is carried.
- Editorial direction
- Publication of reproducible measurements comparing commercial web-search APIs, together with the full method and the raw data needed to check them.
This site is operated by a private individual, not a company. There is no commercial register entry, no VAT identification number, and no supervisory authority, because none of them apply to a project that neither sells nor advertises anything.
Privacy notice
Information pursuant to Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The short version: this site has no accounts, no contact form, no advertising, no cookies, and no cross-site tracking. What remains is the unavoidable minimum that any website on the internet produces.
Controller
Robby Czesany, Graz, Austria — robbyczgw+asb@gmail.com. No data protection officer is appointed; the scale of processing does not require one under Article 37 GDPR.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA. Delivering a page necessarily transmits your IP address, the requested URL, the time of the request, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string to the hosting infrastructure, where it is processed in short-lived operational logs for delivery, security, and abuse prevention.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — the legitimate interest in operating a working and reasonably secure website. Transfers to the United States are covered by Vercel's data processing agreement and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Traffic measurement
This site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It is a cookieless measurement: it stores nothing on your device, sets no identifier that persists across days, and does not follow you to other websites. Vercel derives a short-lived, hashed visitor value from request data in order to distinguish one visit from another, and reports only aggregate counts to the site operator. No profile is built, and no data is sold or shared for advertising.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — the legitimate interest in knowing roughly how many people read the published results. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, no consent banner is required under § 165 of the Austrian Telecommunications Act.
What is not done here
- No cookies are set by this site.
- No user accounts, logins, newsletters, or contact forms exist.
- No advertising networks, remarketing pixels, or social plugins are embedded.
- No personal data is sold, rented, or passed on for marketing purposes.
Third-party resources
Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited) and the charting library from the jsDelivr CDN. Requesting those files transmits your IP address to the respective provider, which is technically unavoidable when a browser fetches a file from another host. Links to GitHub, PyPI, and the search providers themselves are ordinary hyperlinks: nothing is transmitted until you choose to follow them, and from that point the target site's own privacy policy applies.
Retention
The operator of this site keeps no personal data of its own. Operational logs and analytics data are retained by the hosting provider for the limited periods described in Vercel's own privacy documentation, and are then deleted or aggregated beyond recovery.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Articles 15 to 21 GDPR). Write to the address above to exercise them. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb@dsb.gv.at).

What the numbers are
Every figure on this site is a measurement of a specific set of test searches, run at a specific time, from a single European host, and scored by a specific pair of judge models. The full method, the raw responses, and the code are published so that anyone can disagree with the result on the evidence. They are measurements, not verdicts, and they are not a recommendation to buy or avoid any product.
Results go stale
Search APIs change their indexes, ranking, pricing, and infrastructure continuously. A provider that scored poorly in one run may score well in the next. Each published figure carries the date of the run it came from, and no claim is made about how any provider behaves today.
No warranty
The content is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. No liability is accepted for decisions made on the basis of these results, to the extent permitted by law.
Trademarks and independence
All provider names, logos, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. This project is independent: it is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or funded by any of the providers it measures, and none of them were given advance notice or the opportunity to review the results.
Corrections
If you operate one of the measured services and believe a figure misrepresents it, write to the address above with the specific run and case. Verified errors are corrected in the published data, and the correction is noted rather than quietly applied.
